This presentation will present data from a large confirmatory efficacy trial of Magnetic Seizure Therapy in unipolar Depression and a smaller trial in patients with Bipolar Depression.
This treatment utilizes transcranial magnetic stimulation to induce a brief seizure with the hope of inducing similar clinical benefit without cognitive adverse effects of ECT.
Key learning objectives include:
- Review the background and rationale for studying MST and ECT in the treatment of depression.
- Understand the methodology and design of the CREST and CORRECT-BD trials.
- Evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability, and clinical implications of MST as a potential treatment for TRD.
