Mentorship Program

The Clinical TMS Society mentorship program is established for a six (6) month duration, but the mentor/mentee relationship can be extended beyond, if both parties are in agreement.  This program is designed to be a forum to meaningfully connect mentees interested in expanding their TMS knowledge base and skills with experienced mentors who are willing to share their expertise for the purpose of supporting education, encouraging professional development, ensuring quality clinical standards, and increasing engagement of the CTMSS membership.

There are four different categories:

  • Resident, Medical Student, Trainee
  • Clinician Starting a New Practice
  • TMS Coordinator/Technician
  • TMS Research

Select your top three (3) mentors listed in the sections below and enter their names on your Mentee Application.

Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience with Neuroengineering focus
I began my journey as a Float Nurse's Aide at The Ohio State University, rotating through different patient populations every four hours. My favorite assignment was the psychiatric floor, where quick thinking, precision, and empathy were essential during 12-hour shifts. Over time, I developed a deep compassion for these patients and wanted to do more before they required such intensive care. This led me to pivot into the outpatient realm, delivering TMS therapy to MDD patients. Here, I earned my first two certifications, igniting my passion for this field. A recruiter noticed my LinkedIn while I was networking, coinciding with my decision to pursue psychiatry with a specialization in TMS. I had seen the transformative effects of TMS on patients and felt compelled to contribute more as an advanced provider. Although my Physician Assistant school application was denied, serendipitously I was introduced to the world of presurgical TMS by Nexstim gathering 2 more certificates. Since then, I've been captivated by this life-saving technology and its potential. I am eager to reapply to PA school with a renewed vigor on this new journey ahead. English Eastern Time Zone, US 1/month
Rebecca Allen, MD, MPH I completed residency at Harvard Longwood and Fellowship in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. I have been practicing as an interventional psychiatrist offering TMS, ECT, and VNS since 2017, and we have added services over time, such that our clinics now offer Spravato, IV ketamine, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. I served as President of the Clinical TMS Society 2023-24, and am currently the Immediate Past President. I have served as Faculty at the CTMSS' PULSES course (topic: Beyond Depression) and been a speaker at two of CTMSS' Annual Meetings (2023: panel on the business of TMS; 2024: ask the experts panel). I am a Partner/owner (one of three) of a 60ish person company, Seattle Neuropsychiatric Treatment Center (SNTC), which has 5 clinics all offering TMS and Spravato; our two flagship clinics have our additional services (IVK, KAP, clinical trials). I am SNTC's Director of Research, and our clinical trials currently include two on TMS; our other trials are on psilocybin, VNS, a new device measuring brain oxygenation, and biomarkers of treatments response. English Pacific Time Zone, US Every other week or monthly

Prasad Reddy, MD I started TMS in 2011 with Neurostar. They say that I have done 2 million treatments; maybe they are counting the pulses or trains! Who knows? Now, I use Magstim, and we have about five patients on average every day. We practice in a rural area that is one of the poorest in the country. All of my patients are insured. We have only two cash-paying patients. We track every patient with PHQ 9, PTSD scales, Pain scales, and anxiety scales. English Pacific Time Zone, US 1/week
Michael Ricks, Neuroscience My name is Michael, and I'm a young TMS professional who knew from high school that this is what I wanted to do, before I even really knew what it meant. I have always been fascinated with the brain, and the idea that not only can we categorize it with imaging, but when we know what's going on, we can use technology to change the brain for the better. I received my B.S. in Cognitive /Computational Neuroscience from The Ohio State University with my partner majoring in Neuroscience as well in 2019. Breaking into the field of TMS can be confusing, and you deal with unique challenges that few other specialties run into. I'd love to talk through how to make the best use of your machine to drive patient success, and stable business revenue for your clinic. English Central Time Zone, US 1/week
