PULSES: A Comprehensive Review of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. 

A review by Clinical TMS Society members for Clinicians, Nurses, Technicians & Researchers

This in-depth training course features over 14 hours of lectures from a renowned faculty of TMS clinicians, engineers, researchers and special Brasilian guest physicians. 

PULSES offers a certificate of completion and over 2 hours of hands-on training delivered by the PULSES faculty. Attendees will receive current, historical, and practical knowledge for treating patients with TMS based on the best evidence.

The program includes:

  • A new two track system to assist in keeping groups small for hands-on training; 

  • An introduction to the history of and basic scientific principles of TMS by Professor Anthony Barker, who engineered the first TMS device in 1985;

  • A review of the clinical studies that serve as the foundation for treatment of TMS for depression, as well as clinically applicable research and current important studies;

  • Five lectures on the practical administration of TMS for patients, including practice setup to patient dosing, scheduling, management, and side effect management;

  • A review of protocols for TMS: high frequency, theta-burst, low frequency, bilateral, alternative brain targets, reintroduction, maintenance treatment;

  • Hands-on training on coil location placement & motor threshold determination with multiple TMS devices;

  • A review of promising indications beyond depression, including, obsessive compulsive disorder, smoking cessation, migraine, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, pain and more;

  • An extended two-hour Q & A Panel with all PULSES faculty and special guests.

After completion of the course, the clinician will have obtained a historical, current, and practical knowledge of the scientific basis for treating psychiatric patients with TMS.

Those who complete the course are awarded a certificate of completion.

For this course only, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in two special events with PULSES faculty.

*Definitions of CTMSS membership categories: 

Physician/Medical Doctor:  A Physician/medical doctor member is defined as a medical practitioner who has the highest terminal medical degree available in the member’s country. This would be the member’s country’s equivalent to an MD, DO, MBBS, or MBBCh. 

ResearcherA Research member is defined as a person with a doctoral degree who is actively engaged in, or has a strong background of, research in the field of neuromodulation. 

Non-Physician Practitioner: A Non-Physician Practitioner member is defined as a person providing care to patients such as Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners with advanced and/or doctoral degrees, Non-Medical Prescribers, Clinical Psychologists, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapists or others with similar degrees and/or level of practice.                                           

Trainee: A Trainee member is defined as a person currently enrolled in an educational or training program that awards degrees or certificates, or provides other postdoctoral training such as residency or postdoctoral fellowship programs or the equivalent. 

Associate:  An Associate member is defined as a person who supports the mission of the Clinical TMS Society but who does not qualify for the other categories of membership. Examples include Medical Assistants, Nurses, Technicians, TMS Operators, and Therapists. 

Business: A Business member is defined as a person who is a business executive, other industry expert or a person involved in the selling, manufacturing, testing or servicing of TMS devices.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Conference registration cancellations must be received in writing on or before Friday, 26 January, 2024 to receive a refund minus a $100.00 administration fee.
  • No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after 26 January 2024.
  • In the event CTMSS must cancel the conference due to unforeseen circumstances, CTMSS will refund the cost of registration. However, CTMSS does not assume responsibility for any additional costs, charges, or expenses; to include, charges made for travel and lodging.
